Although our patients come from all over the Puget Sound region, we love to take care of people who live in our neighborhood. Since are located in the most densely-populated part of the Northwest, we are within walking distance or a short bus or streetcar ride for many people.
We acknowledge that members of our community - the LGBTQ population - are sometimes made to feel uncomfortable in the mainstream healthcare system. We provide a safe and supportive health care environment for people of all sexual orientations and gender identities.
What is a Physician Assistant?
A Physician Assistant (PA) is a healthcare professional who is trained to practice medicine as part of a team with a physician.
Physician Assistants are concerned with preventing and treating human illness and injury by providing a broad range of health care services that are traditionally performed by a physician. Physician Assistants conduct physical exams, diagnose and treat illnesses, order and interpret tests, prescribe medications, and counsel on preventive health care.
Physician Assistants exercise autonomy in medical decision making as determined by their supervising or sponsoring physician. A period of clinical training precedes obtaining a license to practice as a Physician Assistant. Renewal of licensure is necessary every few years.
PrEP (HIV prevention)
It's now possible to keep from getting HIV infection by taking a daily pill. This is called PrEP. Our clinic offers this service, which includes prescription and monitoring, for people at risk of HIV.
Dr. Shalit has been involved in HIV care since the early days of the epidemic and has taken care of several hundred people living with HIV. He is a certified HIV Specialist by the American Academy of HIV Medicine, of which he is a founding member. Together Peter, Paul, and George provide a full range of HIV care services, from HIV prevention testing through treatment of HIV-infected patients at all stages, as well as HIV research.
We provide primary care for transgendered individuals, both female-to-male and male-to-female. When appropriate and desired, hormonal treatment is included. Please be aware that many insurance providers do not cover hormone therapy, so the cost may be the responsibility of the patient.
We provide care to any individual age 18 and over without regard to race, creed, color, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender expression, marital status, or disability status.
